I think I have genital herpes

Hello Doctor,
I am very concerned for my health and that I may have contracted an STD. Last week I had protected sex with a lady when I was in a different city on vacation. We had intercourse and a bit of kissing. At the start she went down on me unprotected, but only near the top of my penis and not for very long. This was at noon.
That night my left testicle started to itch. By the 3rd day it had turned a bright red and still itched and was a bit larger than normal. I was hoping it was jock itch and applied anti-fungal cream, but by the 5th day it was now more sore than itchy, so I did research and realized my worst fear- I must have herpes!! I went to a walk-in clinic that day and the dr. said it wasn't jock itch or crabs, but was going to treat it as herpes just in case. He took a swab from the still red testicle. There were no blisters but there were some red sore spots spread out that were a bit wet. (i was using a blow dryer to keep the area dry too).
I have been on Valtrex and applying anti-bacterial cream to the area now. It is now the 7th day and the pain has mostly subsided and the testicle is now dryer and scaly and there seems to be some browny-yellowy scales as well. The only problem is that it has spread to the area left of the scrotum, near where the leg meets the scrotum, which is a normal place for jock itch. There are about 3 small red spots and one coin-sized spot. They dont really seem raised or have blisters but do itch a bit. I read that it can't be a yeast infection because these don't spread.
I will have to wait 2 weeks for the swab results, but am wanting your opinion asap. All info. points to a herpes infection. What do you think?

I don;t think your information point to herpes at all.  I think it points instead to irritation.  I think you need to see a doctor with a clearer idea of what herpes looks like, who can also tell you what kind of rash you have and treat it accordingly.  I suspect that a steroid cream and avoidance of friction is what you need.

Best.
