I think I may have an infected mole.

I've had a mole on my chest all my life. It's a little raised and a brownish color. Never gave me trouble, ever. Well, it wasn't until recently that I started to pick at it, and I really wish I wouldn't of. Eventually, it bled very badly, and I think I split it open, and that's how it became infected. It looks really odd, with black spots on it, and it feels really rough or scaly when I run my finger over it. It doesn't hurt or itch. I know I should go to a dermatologist, but I would really like to avoid the doctor's office! Is there any specific OTC ointment I can put on it to heal? Can I leave it be and have it heal naturally? I'm really scared!

When a mole changes, you shouldn't avoid going to your doctor- it's very important to be seen.  I hate the doctor too so I can understand, but with this sort of thing, it's best to go!
