INGROWN HAIR OR SOMETHING ELSE?

Hello,

I'm a 40 year old male in good health.  Approximately two weeks ago a firm bump the size of a small pea developed high on my inner thigh.  No hair is visiable below the skin.  Starting a couple of days ago, the small bump has grown in size and has become redish in color.  Now that area feels sore/tender when pressed on. The bump's redish area is now the size of a quarter.  And the firm pea size bump has now become larger in size and still firm.

What do you think?

I think it's a blocked hair follicle, which is common in this area.  It may be getting redder from squeezing.  It's best left alone.  You can apply some bacitracin or neosporin ointment on it once a day.  It may take some time to get smaller and go away, but you're best off ignoring it.  If it starts to hurt you, see a doctor.
