IS IT MRSA?

About a week ago, I noticed a lesion on my left forearm which was circular, with a very small hole in the center.  It was not itchy nor painful. At first, I thought it might be a spider bite and living in the Southeast was concerned that I might have been bitten by a Brown Recluse, so I went to an emergency hospital.

The physician could not tell whether it was a bite, but was more concerned that it might be community-based MRSA and gave me a prescription for Mupirocin.  I went to a dermatologist on Monday and again she was not sure what it was.  The first lesion is nearly healed, but I've had about 3 others appear on the same arm which are healing.

Yesterday I discovered a larger lesion, which was scaly, circular with the small hole in it. So far, there has been no pus or other excretions from these lesions.  The one on my foot is larger and can't tell yet whether healing. I scratched it before realizing it my be another lesion.

So -can one have MRSA without pain?  and if not MRSA what are these lesions?

Thank you for the reply.  I looked up the 3 conditions you suggested and what I have looks very much like Erythema multiforme.  The symptoms also conformed to that condition.  I will keep a watchful eye on the lesions, of course and if not healed by end of week, will go again to the dermatologist and ask for a bioposy.  Have a good day!

Hello,

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be granuloma annulare, nummular dermatitis or erythema multiforme. I would suggest a dermatologist’s evaluation and biopsy of the lesion to confirm the diagnosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
