The skin could have been cutCuts and puncture wounds and irritated and this could have increased the risk for bacterial colonization and infection. If this is the case, then this may be true for fungal infections also. You may need topical antifungal creams for this. Microscopic evaluation of the skin scrapings and a scotch tape test to exclude pinworms may be necessary as pinworms may present with anal itchiness (pruritus ani) also. At this point, an initial therapy with antifungal creams may be able to help. Antifungal creams with a corticosteroid preparation may be beneficial.
