ITCHY ANUS

by BUSONE, Jul 11, 2008 01:19PM
A WEEK A GO I HAD SEX, MY PARTNER PENETRATED ME WITHOUT LUB AND IT HURT. after that I shaved my anal area, twice, and i had this itch inside and around the anus, it is not as strong now, but still itches.  I took pictures of the area to obserev the problem , and everything looks normal, only i notice small white "spots" the size of pin heads, very tiny, like sparkled flour. And I also feel and notice the area is dry.  What could this be? and what should I do?

Hi

The skin could have been cut and irritated and this could have increased the risk for bacterial colonization and infection. If this is the case, then this may be true for fungal infections also. You may need topical antifungal creams for this. Microscopic evaluation of the skin scrapings and a scotch tape test to exclude pinworms may be necessary as pinworms may present with anal itchiness (pruritus ani) also. At this point, an initial therapy with antifungal creams may be able to help. Antifungal creams with a corticosteroid preparation may be beneficial.
