Ichy skin and bumps with dry patchy skin

******" I CAN"T TAKE THE ITCHING AND RED BUMPS ANYMORE******** I am 21 and i have little red bumps all over my legs, stomach and arms. They itch like crazy, i mean i wake up out of a heavy sleep and itch. I have had these symptoms for about 8 months to a year and i don't know what to do. I have tried cortisione cream, anti-itch ointments, callimine, changing soaps and detergents. I don't know what it is or what to do. I have looked on the internet to try to diagnos it but i have had no luck. I mean there is so many things out there you see one diagnosis and you have one symptom and you think you have it. Its so hard to get things straight. They itch so bad, please help me figure out what it is. What can i do? Please help me. Thank you so much....

Hello,
Night time itching of bumps is a characteristic symptom of scabies. It is an infestation of the skin with the Sarcoptes scabiei mite. It is characterized by intense itching, usually at night and by small insect-type bites lesions on the skin. Diagnosis of scabies is made by scraping the skin and viewing the material under a microscope to see the characteristic mite or eggs.

Diagnosis can be confirmed only after clinical examination and microscopic examination.I feel that a dermatologist would be the best person to evaluate that.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Warm regards.

Hello,
Treatment of scabies is specific and consists of topical medicines like permethrin, malathion, lindane and tea tree oil and oral medicine like ivermectin. It is highly contagious and is transmissible from daily household articles also and although none of your family members are showing any symptoms now,yet they may require the treatment. So I would advise an evaluation by a dermatologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Warm regards.
