If not vitiligo...

A little over a year ago i developed a pretty good sized white patch on my left elbow. I went to two different dermatologists for it, neither of them did any sort of tests just gave me some creams for it. Due to these creams the patch that was once white when it totally different route and turned very, very dark and a diagnosis was never made. Then over 4th of July weekened this year I spent a good deal of time in the sun. When I got back home from being on vacation I noticed that a very large portion of my right leg was spotted white and my left leg was mainly white. I didn't go to the Dr. for it just yet, I waited till I got back from my final summer vacation. By this time the white spots/splotches were very noticable. He took a biospy of one of the spots a little over a week ago and he said he was almost sure that I was in the transitional phases of vitiligo. I called in this morning to get my results and the nurse said that the tests came back negative for vitiligo and that the Dr. would talk to me more when I came in in 2 weeks...I was very surprised to hear this. So my question is is if it's not vitiligo, what is it? I was never too scared of the possibility of having vitiligo; I scared of not knowing, there not being an explanation for so much pigment loss.
