I'm concerned this is the beginning of HPV

by concerned1978, Dec 23, 2004 12:00AM
I have been to three different doctors, and they don't "think" it's HPV, but they aren't 100% positive.

background

I'm gay. I had unprotected sex (top) with one guy in the last month and a half, and have had sexual contact with 2 others, skin to skin + oral sex (uprotected)

The part where I think I have HPV are the small whitish/flesh colored bumps that have appeared after the sexual contact.  The bumps are located just under the glans of the penis on the front side, but they are not papules. They don't really hurt, but they are not going away, and it's going on a month now. I can't tell if their on the skin or under it.  I can feel it with my fingers if i stretch the skin really tight between two fingers.  they really looks like small pimples but do not pop, and they are not those same things under the rest of the head of the penis. I did the vinegar test...and nothing happened, both in and out of doctors office.  I do have some pain when I masturbate and orgasm though.  I think I may have an infection of some sort because the hole to the urethra turns red and hurts a bit.  I have no discharge. I have been tested negative for chlamydia and gonerhia.
However,
here are a few photos to better show what I think is the beginning of hpv:
(i'm going to put the pictures in html code, maybe that works here or maybe not, but I'll place the copy/paste links afterwards anyway in case it doesn't)

as you look you can also see the redish dried area on the glans going to the urethra, as well as the hole to the urethra being 'swollen' slightly and red (that's the last picture if you didn't look at them all).  That is what hurts when I masturbate now, and turns really red.

Like I said I saw three different doctors (including a ifectious disease specialist) but nobody really knows...they tell me to wait. Should I see a dermatologist? What do you think the bumps could be?  All I know is that they weren't there a a little over a month ago.

Excellent photography!

Those are not warts.  It is common for men to get bumps in the regions shown.  I suspect that the ones on the underside of the penis have been there for a while, and you just noticed them because of concern over your recent contacts.  The ones near the tip are probably from friction.  I suggest you see a dermatologist in person who can tell you that you're OK.  I also suggest that you avoid unprotected sex.

Take care.

thanks for the response.

I called to set up an appointment with a dermatologist, but the reception said they don't handle std's, and that I would be referred to a general practioner or something.

maybe I'll call and just won't tell her exactly what it's about so that I can get an appointment with someone.

Every dermatologist sees genital warts.  Just play Mickey the Dunce and say you don't know what you have--that's why you're making the appointment.

I've similar bumps, however mine are more prominent and more in number.  They become especially visible after a shower.  I'm in a monogomous relationship and have been for a year or more so I am not too concerned.  More seemed to appear after a night of rough intercourse in an area that was chafed, though...
