Infant acne or skin rash?

Infant acne or skin rash?

My 9 week old daughter has bumps all over her cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. Now it is extending to her ears and neck. I wonder if I should take her to the dr or just wait.

My 2 year old suddenly had tiny bumps on her chest, too.

I just turned 36 and just developed keratosis pilaris. Do they have that as well?

Thanks

Alex

Hi

At this point I do not think this is keratosis pilaris. We have to rule out some infectious processes here such as measles and other viral exanthems. Atopic dermatitis and a sweat rash for your older child may have to be considered. Atopic dermatitis may be considered for rash which occurs in infancy as well as for toddlers.

Yes, take them to a pediatrician so that they may be assessed early. Give them enough fluid from water, juice or soups. Wash the area with a mild cleanser and keep them away from too much heat or sun exposure.
