Ingrown hair?

by LittlePea82, Jan 03, 2009 01:19PM
I'm 26 years old and have been shaving ''down there'' for about 6 years now.  I've had many little ingrown hairs before, those you can apply a hot compress on and pop quite easily.  About a month ago, I shaved again.  Now I have this red lump near my pubic hairline (near the vagina).  I know it's not a STD since my pap test was clear after my last sexual relationship.  So, I'm thinking it's probably an ingrown hair.  However, I cannot see the hair, nor can I get rid of this little (pea-sized) bump.  I've tried all the at-home remedies (apply a hot compress, trying to free the hair out...) I even tried to pop it with a needle, but it's too hard to pop, and there's only a bit of blood that comes out.  I did get a tiny bit of puss out of it a few weeks ago, but I don't see any progress of it healing at this time.  It doesn't hurt when I leave it alone, it's just annoying and ugly.  Could it be something worse than an ingrown hair?  Will an ingrown hair like this (if that's what it is) leave on its own?
I really hope someone can help me with this one.
Thanks :)
