Ingrown hairs in chin, HELP

by aliyas_mommy, Aug 26, 2009 09:29AM
I am a 26 year old female.  I have dealt with acne for years, and nothing has seemed to help (including prescription creams).  The main issue I have is ingrown hairs in my chin.  They get very painful and in my efforts to get the hair from under the skin I end up with huge sores and still don't get the hair.  The cycle repeats itself, what can I do to reduce the ingrown hairs and repair my skin?

To: aliyas_mommy,
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be an infected hair follicle or boil. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
