Ingrown or Herpes???

Hey I don't often shave down there, but I recently started dating this guy who Im not really sure of previous sexual history other than how many girls he's been with. We used condoms during sex, but there was some skin on skin contact. A few weeks later he was fingering me but we didn't have any other skin on skin contact....I found this irritation on the entrance of my vagina that was about this long ________ . It was swollen, but couldnt really see bumps or anything...now I can kind of see some bumps...they are reddish in colour but they haven't scabbed in a week or anything. They aren't itchy or anything...are they ingrowns? herpes? Im so confused!!! The fingering was a bit rough, maybe it was a scratch on top of an ingrown? HELP!!!!!

Hi,

This could  be due to irritation, infection, a possible genital herpes or sexually transmitted disease. Are there other signs or symptoms present?  Genital herpes typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers  that may take two to four weeks to heal. Ingrown or folliculitis may be ruled out because there is no hair follicles inside the labia minora.  It could also be a scratch, with the way you described it. Either way, it would be best to have this evaluated further by your doctor. A pelvic or gynecologic examination is important to reach a diagnosis. A culture  of the lesion or blood test may rule out herpes.
