Recently I went to my doctor to have an infected ingrown hair checked.  He has put me on mild antibiotics, and advised that I may have to get it surgically removed, involving 6 weeks off work !!!.  I am just wondering if there is any other way that it can be removed?  If the infection clears, can I try the remidy using a warm cloth and tweezers?

Even if the infection clears, it would be best to refrain from too much manipulation of the affected area to prevent reinfection.
