Scalp psoriasis is characterized by thick silvery white scale on patches of very red skin. It may extend slightly beyond the hairline. It may not cause any symptoms at all or may be extremely itchy. It tends to be a chronic problem. Other differentials include sebopsoriasis and pityriasis amiantacea. Scalp psoriasis requires slightly different regimes from psoriasis affecting the skin elsewhere. Most treatments will need to be used regularly for several weeks before a benefit is seen. Have this evaluated further by your dermatologist for proper management. Direct clinical examination is important for proper diagnosis. A comparison with your previous condition may also be done.
