Is excema an allergy?

My 2 1/2 year old grandaughter has a severe case of excema on the back of her knees and elsewhere.  Is it possible that she is alergic to a large 5 year old lab that sleeps in the same room?

I am open for suggestions?

Thank you,

Hello,
I am a 17 year old from Michigan. And in early 97 i went to Florida to visit my grandmother. Of course i did a lot of swimming in the pools and the atlantic, and i was wondering if this rash (excema) could have been caused by the salt water. My mother said that when i was 2 i was very allergic to milk and almost died of it. And last night i was talking to a friend that said milk makes her skin crack which develops into red patches, like i have. I just found out what excema is, and as an adolescent of course its going to effect my confidence. In 98 it went away, but last year it came back and was spreading onto my arms; it used to be all over my back, never on the arms. Ive been treated by a dermatologist who gave me a cream, but the only thing that was proved out of it was a large bill. And a doctor advised me to use Denorex, which is a dandruff shampoo. It helped the rash fade away, but it would come back in a couple days. I really need some advice that can get rid,or help get rid of this problem,it would definetely be appreciated. Thank you

Eczema is a sensitivity you're bron with.  It usually is not an allergy, especially in a kid.  I'd treat the rash and keep the dog.

Best.
