Is it Herpes ?

Is it Herpes ?

Hello Doc

I always had protected sex in my life and unprotected oral sex(******* (many times) and cunngilus(1 time)).My last exposure was 2 months back and here i gave cunngilus first time.after 3 weeks i had HIV test which comes negitve. After 6 weeks of this exposure i saw red spots on my penis.they never burn, itch .Red spots/bumps comes and then dry out and then i found it in other part of glan.they are very small and sometime it look like puss is there in them but never comes out and after 2 3 days dry out completely.i never experienced outbreak and neither cold sore but also never tested for STD.

Do you think it is Herpes or any other STD?
What are the chances of having HIV due to unprotected Cunngilus?

Thanks in Advance?

Chances that could be an STD are pretty high I have to say. Better go to your nearest screening center asap.

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be folliculitis, contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub with clothes, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic),excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis or balanitis(due to an underlying infection (bacterial and fungal as well as other organisms) .Even genital warts and herpes sores cannot be ruled out as it is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner.

You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or calamine lotion or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash.
If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Dear Bhupinder Kaur,

I went to my GP and after seeing my Penis,he said it's nt herpes and this redness is just due to irritation. Then i asked him for herpes test and he said not required and wont recommend it at all. Also he said that when you have herpes then you will have blister and would be painful in first outbreak.

He said if you have blister then we can take culture test otherwise no test required.

Can you please advice what would you suggest?

Also i want to ask should i go for another HIV test .i had unprotected cunngilus in my last exposure.i went for HIV test after 3 weeks of my last exposure and it came negitive but 3 weeks is not definative.

Thanks in advance

Hello,
Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur.

If you have any blisters of such sort, then please get it evaluated from a dermatologist. The window period can be from 6 months to 1 year for HIV virus.
So confirmation is only done by specific tests for HIV like western blot,PCR and ELISA.These tests may show accuracy after 6 weeks to 6 months as HIV antibodies take time to develop in the body.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Dear Bhupinder Kaur,

After 12 weeks went for test and today my result came and its bad news for me.

1)HIV test result is negitive(.09) --- happy

2)My Herpes IGM test result comes out(.6) negative

3)MY Herpes IGG test result comes out positive(8.1).i told doctor to have herpesselect test but some mistake happen and its my consolidated result. Now I don’t know if it is hsv1 or hsv2.i never had any outbreak in my entire life and always had protected sex but yes unprotected oral too and now in relly scared. Doctor told me that no need to have specific test, when you have any synptoms then we can treat it and also the medicine is same for both case.

He also said that i can't infect other if i dont have any symptoms. Is it True.

I also had chicken pox in past .can the IGG result vary because of it.

Also i want to ask if i had cold sore in the past which i dont remeber.can i infect other person now because of it.

Please give me your wise advice.

Thanks.

Hello,
A positive herpes IgG test, if the test result is accurate, means that your body has been infected with the herpes simplex virus. Type specific herpes IgG tests can often distinguish between HSV-1 and HSV-2, but they cannot detect whether a particular infection is oral or genital.

Once you contact HSV, it stays for life. Viral shedding continues in times of illness, stress, other infections etc which lowers immunity. Please consult a STD clinic to manage this for you. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
