Is it considered a emergency?

I have had a mole in back of my ear for years now, It has change a very little over the years. All of a sudden I woke up to pain and it sweel up to the size of an eraser.My doctor can not fit me in until next week.Should I go to emergency room? Thank you for your time,.Donna

Any sudden change in the appearance of mole like change in color,symmetry,elevation,itching,oozing or pain should be evaluated soon as these are the early symptoms of a melanoma and need timely medical management.
