Is it head lice?

I found some sand like looking dots on my kids head. I thought it was head lice so I got the treatment and the dots are gone. While combing I was picking up some dry skin or was it the lice eggs that looked like a super small oval shape. Now is it lice or just something else. I noticed this 2 weeks ago but thought it was some sand from playing in the sandbox. The black dots comes offf with washing but I noticed some of the oval on my son's head. Was hard to observe on my 18 month old daughter but when I did the combing I got some too.

We didn't take a chance and cleaned everything. My concern is for the kids in the daycare. I called the parents and one got the treatment for her son but I don't think the other did and I'm finding some black sand like dots (not moving btw) hard to tell for the oval things cause he has psiorisis.

I've been putting the bedding in the dryer every morning since we found them and I'm also vacuuming the couches and soft chairs. I've been combing every morning everyone's head (husband at night since he's gone to work when we wake), finding nits. But for two days I haven't found any. Oh, and we have been doing an oil treatment every 2 days to suffocate larva and adults.

Yesterday, we did the second treatment and I found 2 eggs on my son, none on my daughter, one one my husband and two larva. My husband found many larva on my head.

I've got questions for you. 1. Since we didn't find any adults lyce does it mean that the product worked and should be all gone or could there still be some live one and should we do one more treatment in case we missed some eggs that hadn't hatch or in case some larva survived.

When combing we are finding lots of dry skin, dust and some looks like nits and louse. How can we tell them apart, we don't see anything on the hair but finding some when combing. I figured that the louse will be on the head to feed and not on the hair.

I really want this to end. I have a daycare to run too. Feels like all I'm doing is lyce prevention.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
According to CDC(centre of disease control), intense itching (“pruritus”) and rash caused by an allergic reaction to the louse bites are common symptoms of lice infestation. Wash the Clothing, bedding, and towels in hot water and dry them in sun after machine drying them. Topical permethrin or Lindane cream may be needed which are available by prescription only.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
