, 30 years. I have been using dermovate ointment for almost 18 years. I started using it to actually treat rashes that were always breaking out on my face
and a doctor prescribed to use it atleast twice a week. I tried to stop using it but noticed that if i stop then i start developing rashes and my skin had a burning feeling. i live in the UAE and the dermatologists dont seem to know how to treat my condition. If i knew how to treat it, what to buy and use, then i could. I need advice. Is this condition treatable or permanent? How do i treat it so that i stop using dermovate? I appreciate any advice i might get. Thanks.
Hello,
Long term use of topical steroids is associated with side effects like thinning of skin, skin fragility and steroid rosacea. It is an adverse effects of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years.
You can use tacrolimus ointment for this after consulting a dermatologist.Using this rosacea often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea in 7 to 10 days with twice daily application. Complete clearing of steroid-induced rosacea usually takes 1 to 2 months. Sometimes clearing takes a bit longer. Avoiding rosacea triggers, such as caffeine, spicy foods, and alcohol, also may help clear the skin.
