Is one bump bad?

by Mclovin222, Jul 24, 2008 06:48PM
I recently noticed  i developed a very small growth on the tip of my penis. It's a very small bump and this concerns me. I just got out of a relationship with a girl and we had been tested twice ,while we were together, and nothing dealing with bumps ever came up. I recently went and had it checked out and the nurse said it didn't look like a genital wart and then she got a second opinion and the other nurse said it didn't look like a wart either. They both were in agreement the bump didn't look like a wart, but it could be. One nurse put on some type of acid on it and told me to see it the skin would fall off and if it did its a wart, but if it doesn't then i need to see a dermatologist. It's a little confusing because there isn't a lot of straight forward information about genital warts.  In general, information for men isn't as available as it is for women. I have scene some of the pictures and  my little bump doesn't look anything like the genital warts i have scene. I'm also uncircumcised and  i'm thinking it could be a hygiene issue. All in all i haven't received a straight answer . Whats the next step?

Hi

Genital warts may be readily identified as they do present with a characteristic appearance. This is a single bump and it does not appear to grow or spread. If this is the case, then molluscum and genital warts may not be likely. Warts and molluscum have a tendency to spread. These are skin colored bumps and they may vary in size and shape. Just continue to observe the affected area for a while. If the bump does not grow or increase in number, this may not be something infectious. Do not apply any creams or topical medications as this area of the penis is quite sensitive.
