Is this common??

My co-worker has had a rash for over a week.  It is all over her body except for her hands, feet, and face.  It itches.  Nothing has changed in diet or detergent.  There are raised areas - but not blistering.  Benadryl and various creams and lotions are not affecting it at all, including steriod creams.  Does that point you to help diagnose?  She does not have insurance and can't go to a dr.

Hi,

Over-the-counter anti-histamine medication may help with the itching. It would also help to ask if other members of the family or people near her have this rash as well. This would help in determining if this is infectious in nature such as measles or rubella. If she has a history of allergies, this could be an allergic reaction to a trigger. Are there other associated signs or symptoms present? Viral exanthems may present with rash also but htis is associated with fever or flu-like symptoms. A proper medical history and complete physical examination is really needed to reach a clinical diagnosis. If there is a doctor or health provider in your workplace, it would help to have this evaluated.
