Is this pityrasis roseaca or something contagious?

I was diagnosed with pityrasis roseaca in high school. I recently went to a dermatologist in december and was biopsed for lichen planus but it turned out negative.  So, therefore I was diagnosed with pityrasis roseaca.  But, this rash started on my thigh as a red discolored mark appearing like a mosquito bite.  It then spreaded to my stomache, arms, hips, buttocks, and chest.  I was prescribed a steriod ointment.  The rash is getting worst.  My seven year old child is breaking out with the same rash on her buttocks.  I noticed she scratches more frequently at night.  What is this rash?

Hello,
From the symptoms ringworm and nummular dermatitis also need to be ruled out. Ringworm is a fungal infection and nummular dermatitis is a type of eczema and allergic reaction is one of the commonest symptom. To confirm the diagnosis however you need to consult a dermatologist as both present as ring like itchy lesions. Treatment is different for both.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
