Itching during exercise occuring more often

Itching during exercise occuring more often

In the past I have experienced itching on my legs during exercise on rare occasion. Now I experience extremely uncomfortable itching every time I fitness walk or run. It is so bad that I have to stop. The symptoms seem to disappear within about 30-45 minutes. This is extremely disturbing because I am a Personal Trainer and fear that I will not be able to exercise.

Why is this gettting worse? Will I have to be on Prescritption strenght antihistamines continually? Should I seek an allergist or dermatologist?

You may have cholinergic urticaria.  These are hives induced by chemicals released during sweating or exercise.  You can prevent these by taking an antihistamine 30-60 minutes before you exercise.  Try thr OTC ones, like Benadryl 25 mg or chlortrimeton 4g.  If thse don't work or make you too drowsy, ask a doctor for a prescription for a nonsedating one.  There's no special rason why your body started reacting this way.

Best.
