You would need antibiotic to tide this over.Best wishes.
I will be going back to my GP tomorrow because I didn't use lotriderm for a day now and for a bit it didn't itch but after exactly 24
Hours there is a ton of discharge under foreskin which. I have never seen before, so I am sure it is blantitis
Lotriderm is with steroid lotrimin is without!
I have been using lotriderm, u just said u shouldn't use it for that long
Infact it is the steroid that is leading to the redness here. You could possibly use an antifungal like Lotrimin(Clotrimazole creme) as Dr. Kaur has mentioned in her communication.Do consult your doc.
Well I am not sure what to do then, if I don't put it on, the skin becomes very red and itchy... It's hard to do any activities as the itch is very prominent. I am very frustrated wth the situation now knowing the lotriderm is causing me harm also. I hope someone can suggest something before the September appt
Prolonged use of corticosteroid preparations may produce striae or atrophy of the skin or s.c. tissue especially penile, scrotum, or on the face.
Now this is getting me more worried, so if I don't use lotriderm the itch comes back and the area becomes red, not sure what I can do...I have been using lotriderm once or twice a day for 2 and half months... Please advise
You are indeed risking skin atrophy to long term steroid application, which could be irreversible.ok?
Thanks for the reply and that's what I thought it could be, I also don't have a sexual partner as being worried I have put hold all sexual activities. Also my specialist urologist date is not until September, so not sure what I can do to fix the problem until then. All I can do is apply lotriderm but the area seems to be getting more red. There isn't much itch because of the lotriderm
Hello,
It looks like balanitis. Oral course of antibiotics is needed. In addition, don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Bacitracin or Lotrimin which you are already using. Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then consult a dermatologist .
When balanitis keeps recurring, it may be caused by a yeast infection transmitted back and forth between partners during sexual contact. Other than it can be due to incomplete treatment or diabetes. You should get your partner’s status evaluated and your partner also needs to use antifungals.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
