Itching

Hello everybody,

In the last month or so I have developed skin rash on the inside of the knee on both legs - Although its concentrated on the inside knee area it sort of extends further up the inside leg although it fizzles out as you approach the groin area.

However there is also sort of rash on my penis just behind the head and it feels sore. Of course the insideo f my leg also feels itchy and its gone red where I could not help myself and ended up scratching.  About two weeks ago I went to see the Dentist and he gave me Amoxcillin for gum infection. I noticed after I completed the week long course the soreness had almost disappeared and I was free from itchiness. Now its back again.

I had a heart attack about ten months ago( one stent inserted ) and I am on Plavix, Aspirin, Bisoprolol, Ramipril, Ormocor oil and 80mg Atrovostatin.

Anybody like to give me a insight into this? Thanks in advance.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Although knee is a common place for appearance of dermatitis herpetiformis, yet from the symptoms that it has been present for one month lessens its chances. It can be a fungal infection or dermatitis as well. To confirm the diagnosis you need to get it examined from a dermatologist as treatment is specific for all. Maybe your dermatologist may take a small biopsy sample from the lesions.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
