Itchy, sore lips + thin yellow crusting?

Hi there!

For the last year or two, I've been on and off experiencing a little 'flaking' of my skin underneath my lip and above my chin, almost in a triangle shape. I used to get eczema when I was younger, but I haven't had it for years. Usually, I'd put a little 'Lenovate' cream on it and this would take care of the itch associated with the flaking and clear it up within a few hours.

Anyway - I flew from South Africa to New Zealand a few weeks ago and got a bad virus that had me bed bound for a week. During this time, I guess because my immune system was low, I got the flaking. So, I got a steroid cream like Lenovate and applied it - just a tiny bit as directed.

Gradually over a few days, my lips became really tight and dry, eventually flaking all over and above and below my lips. I then had angular cheilitis on both sides. I just kept applying Blistex and it eventually healed and went away.

Then, about 3 or 4 days ago, I had the flaking again underneath my lip. I put moisturizer on (Cetaphil) and carried on like normal. It cleared up like normal. Then, when I woke up the next morning, I had a red area underneath my lip where the flaking usually occoured. It was itchy and inflamed. Within a few hours, a hive-like thing appeared to the right of the original patch, so I bought a strong antihestimine (Telfast) which helped with the itching etc - but I'd like to point out I never have itched it!
Anyway - I thought that would sort it out. During the course of the day and overnight, it started to feel almost wet, like there was liquid the area - and my lips started feeling this too - along with being tight and dry again.
When I woke up yesterday morning, I had a thin yellow crust over the original flaking area and where the hive-like thing was. When I got into the shower it just melted off on it's own really easily. I put more Cetaphil onto it and Blistex onto my lips.
For about 3 or 4 hours it felt uncomfortable and wet again, but no pain - until I exposed it to wind while walking outside. Then it started to really BURN, so I put Cetaphil on again. During the course of the next few hours the dark yellow crust reformed under my lip.

Overnight, same thing again, but it has spread - and now, 12 hours later, I can feel it going into the corners of my mouth and just above my top lip - like someone has taken a pink/red lip liner around the outside of my lips.
The crust is here in full force.

The crust itself isn't sore at all, just uncomfortable. My lips on the other hand are sore, tight, and dry - but I am not putting anything on them or my crust anymore until I see the doctor.

From what I've seen online and on this forum - it could be impetigo (but I don't have the classic round sores), Candida infection, or general cheilitis with a secondary infection. I am nervous to apply just anything as it could be fungal or bacterial and these would require different treatments.

It is really getting me down as it looks just horrible and is uncomfortable to eat or drink anything.

I am 26, female, pretty healthy - already grain and wheat free - non smoker.

Is there a way I can post a photo?

Any advice would be AMAZING.....

Thank you all in advance.
