Itchy & swelling face whenever I leave and come back.

Hello. I am a 20 year old African American women with a skin issue that I'm not sure is allergies. Back in Feb. 2007, while sitting in a huge conference room, my face began to get really REALLY itchy and I was relieving the itch by rubbing. When I got home 1 hour later, I noticed in the mirror that the areas under & around my eyes, and foreheard were red/purple. The next morning, I woke up with those same areas swollen. The morning, this occured, I was using a coconut lotion on my face. Since then, I've stopped using said lotion but my problem has not gone away.

I'm now restricted to my home. Because EVERY SINGLE TIME, whether its sunny or cloudy out, I go out for a few hours and come back in my home, 5-10 minutes later, the same areas I mentioned before gets itchy & swollen and sometimes behind my hands gets itchy as well.

I've taken Claritin. I've taken 50MG Benadryl. And they DO NOT work for me.

Please help. I don't want to spend my life at home. Plus, I'm going on vaction at the end of this month..TO THE CARIBBEAN!

Not sure.  You may have eczema, which can cause swelling and itching.  I don't think you can or should confine yourself to your home.  You need to see a doctor, preferably a skin doctor, to find out what this is and how to treat it.  Eczema, by the way, is not usually an allergy to something specific.  An over-the-counter lotion containing pramoxine or camphor/menthol can help tide you over the itch.  Apply it liberally and often.

Best.
