I started Aquarobics at the YWCA. I noticed after a while I started getting itchy only on the inside of my upper arms. Its like a fungus. My doctor gave me creams for it which do help a little. But the spots
almost look like ring worm. I went on vaation for 2 weeks and it went away. But as soon as I came back and started again? It's back. What could be causing this. It's soo itchy. Is it the water? And why only there. I am thinking when my arms rub back and forth on my swim suit during certain exercises might be the cause. HELP
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be fungal infection or ring worm. Most cases of ring worm respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Also try keeping the area dry and wear cotton clothes.
If the symptoms persist then please consult a dermatologist and get the possibility of nummular dermatitis ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
