Itchy Legs

For some time now, I have been having itchy legs..whether I shave or wait a few days. It does not matter..I have used soap & shaving gel...I use Venus razor which i think is one of the best around. I have it real bad at night when i go to bed...my legs are a mess right now... Do you have any suggestion as to why? or what i can do different?

Thanks

Is there a rash? It could be an allergy. It could be dry skin.
Use a good moisturizer just after shower.

I have had itchy legs for YEARS, not all over, just my legs.  I've tried changing soaps, detergent, lotion, everything.  I have been to several doctors and no one knows what it is.  I have heard that it could be a gluten allergy? so i have to try that. The itching is the most annoying thing ever...i often cause myself to bleed because of it.  Let me know if you find out anything.

I have had itchy legs for about three years now. I have no rash, nor am I allergic to anything... it's really odd to be honest... I have no idea why they itch but I have a few tips if they do itch.
1-Ice cubes, if they itch really really bad, get in the shower and gently rub your legs with ice cubes. This always stops my itching... at least for a while.
2- Do not shave every day, it just causes your legs to be more irritated. Try once a week.
3- Don't get sun burned. It is just makes it that much worse.
4- Try a topical numbing cream.
5- Wear PJ pants to sleep in. It makes my legs itch worse if they touch while I sleep.
6- Don't start scratching... it just makes it worse.
7- If your itching after the shower... but on a basic lotion, dry off your legs and put jeans on asap. I think the feel of the jeans on your legs helps distract you from the itching.

As a Nurse, I personally think it is some sort of eczema or just really sensitive skin. I think shaving, showers or anything else that would upset your skins normal conditions just cause a minor irritation that is really itchy.

I am really interested in laser hair removal because I believe shaving is the main issue... for me anyways. Has anyone tried this? Do guys have this itchy leg thing?

I'm 26 year old female..I live in Bermuda and i have very itchy legs..It started about three years ago..After a hurricane hit Florida(which is where i was living at the time).I went to the Hospital and they gave me creams..it worked for awhile and then i moved to Bermuda..I didn't have problems until 8 months later..I would take a bath or shower and shave my legs. Then i would pat dry and put lotion on..At the times i was using scented everything.I would scratch so bad that i would peel off some of the leg skin and it would bleed..I went to two dermatologists and they said it could be from the scented stuff and it could also be nuerological..Well, i changed everything like soaps,lotions,detergants,etc..to unscented baby stuff..But the itch never stopped..The doctors felt it was from shaving to muc..So i would stop until the hair would grow long and then i would itch more..I tried everthing, luke warm bath water, vinegar in the bath,oatmeal,etc..I also use Aveeno daily mousturizer and the cream that has calamine in it..I take Allegra in the morning an one pill called Chlorphenamine during the day and Hydroxyzine at night..But i still itch as i sleep and when i wake up i have to go straight to the tub and take a very hot bath..it helps luke warm or cool makes it worse..I also use ice packs when i fell really hot and my legs are stinging..It helps alittle..I don't even want to leave my house because i itch and i'm afraid i won't have a way to take a bath right away.I tell myself it's all in my head and it doesn't work to well..I want to shave cause i feel the itch is bad with the leg hairs rubbing but if i shave the hair grows back fast and it goes crazy..I've done waxing, changing razors per shave and now i'm doing laser treatments..The only thing is i have wait 6-8 weeks before the next one..She uses and numming spray that is use in the laser that helps for awhile..Do you know what it is? I want to use aloe vera to sooth it but i'm afraid that it will dry my legs out..Can you help me?It's affecting my marriage cause i can't feel up to doing nothing and i was told by my doctor it could be something called pruritus..i nkow some of the itch is that but i have to feel it coming on before i can think it..Could you help me i would love go out and have fun wearing jeans and tights etc..I can't even let my husband touch my legs it sad and i just want to cut my my skin off it drives me nuts please help me????

I have the same problem, shaving is a nightmare and it starts itching within the first 3 to 6 hours, I'm guessing when the hair starts growing back in and after 12 to 24 hours they calm down. but I have a skin condition called keritonin pilaris. It's goosebump like bumps on your upper arms, butt, thighs and sometimes calves. A lot of caucasian people seem to have really mild cases like just a little bit of bumps on their upper arms. My legs are just fine when I leave them alone or trim the hair with hair clippers. But I have noticed that using sensitive skin Veet doesn't have such a bad reaction. And of you use a triple blade razor with hair conditioner instead of shave cream it's not too bad either. Right now, I am miserably trying to avoid scratching my painfully itchy legs because I used a shaving cream last night which opens up your poors for a closer shave but can irritate sensitive skin. Good luck and I feel your pain.
