Itchy Scalp

by Susan, Mar 15, 2000 12:00AM
A couple of weeks after I began using Finesse shampoo & condishioner, I started itching only on the sides of my head.  It is an intense itch though.  I have stopped using Finesse, but the itching has not only continued, it also seems to be spreading towards the back of my head.  There is no flaking or sores.  Any ideas on how to stop the itch?

Susan:

Try Pramege, an OTC anesthetic gel.  Apply it liberally and often.  Use a nonmedicated shampoo, like baby shampoo or Neutrogena regular.  The Finesse is probably not the cause, just a coincidence.  In my expereince, stress often triggers this sort of itch.  Could that be relevant to you?

Best.  Dr. R
