Itchy eyes & face

by Yvonne5151, Apr 08, 2008 08:20AM
I suffer from severely itchy face, particularly around eyes.  It lasts several months.   It is only around the area I live, not just at my home but within about 40km radius of our town.   My face and eyes become unbearably itchy.  I cannot bear to have a strand of hair touching my face and must slick it back off my face every day and night.   At its very worst (which it gradually builds up to) my vision becomes blurred and double vision and cannot read or see details.   The skin around my eyes has become extremely wrinkled - like a little old ladies with dark circles around them (I look like I'm on drugs).  I cannot put any cosmetics or even moisturiser on my face during this period.  I have had this allergy for 15 years usually from Nov to May, although last year I only had it from Feb to April.  This year is more severe than I have ever had.   I have had all the allergy testing, desensitising injections etc.  However as I live in the country whenever I travel to the city to see the specialists - my condition is not present.   In the first few weeks of the allergy antihistimines work (Telfast) but as it progresses these and all antihistimines have no effect whatsoever.

Any suggestions??? or has anyone else ever come across anything similar.  Please don't say to move towns.

Hi,

Rather than moving towns, it would be best to find out what is actually causing the allergy. This is basically to try and avoid exposure to that substance. if that may be difficult then desensitization is the next option.

This may be due to various substances, such as natural or man made, plant or insects, cosmetics or food products.

Meanwhile, try to avoid going out and if necessary try to reduce exposure and use anti-allergics as required. visit an allergy specialist to help you asap.

regards
