It's driving me crazy

It's driving me crazy

About a month or so ago I started getting really itchy. Over time it has gotten worse and worse. I only get itchy if I start to move around or begin to get hot. I have started waking up extremely itchy and been unable to sleep sometimes because of it. It is only itchy on my upper body. my back and scalp and the main places that are effected however when i begin to get itchy it spreads to my upper chest and arms. However, my face and stomach does not get itchy. Like I said this has continued to get worse. It just started happening randomly out of the blue. I didn't change soaps of anything and since it has started I have tried numerous different soaps and shampoos. I've tried lotion for itchy dry skin and it still hasn't helped. Ive stopped sleeping with a fan on and taking long showers because i thought the problem was dry skin. There is no visible redness or marks in the areas that itch either. I have been unable to exercise or take long walks because as soon as i start walking for more than a quarter mile I begin to itch horribly. Please help, any suggestions on how to stop the itchiness would be appreciated.

it could me a mental thing. i often feel very itchy myself. but instead of scratching i try to think of something else. or watch a movie. just anything to get my mind off of it and eventually it will go away. i dont know if you are having the same problem tho. its just a suggestion.

Hello,
Itchy skin that isn't accompanied by other obvious skin changes, such as a rash, is most often caused by dry skin (xerosis). Skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods  can cause itchy skin.

You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. Covering the affected area with bandages and dressings can help protect the skin and prevent scratching. You should choose mild soaps without dyes or perfumes and use a mild, unscented laundry detergent when washing clothes, towels and bedding.

Pls take a second opinion from a dermatologist if the symptoms persist. He/She will start with the specific medications. If an internal disease is found, whether it's kidney disease, iron deficiency or a thyroid problem, treating that disease often relieves the itch.Lastly,Phototherapy can also be tried. Also then brachioradial pruritis needs to be ruled out.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Warm regards.
