Jock Itch

Hi

I've had a strong itch on the inner thigh, crotch area for a few years now and have put up with it, indeed, a scratch sometimes can be quite relieving, but it's got to the stage where quite simply I've had enough.

What can be done about it?

For info, there is no rash, no broken skin. Just an itch, across an area several inches round, both sides.

Hello,
Such an itch without rash can be due to neurodermatitis or lichen sclerosus chronicus. Since the anti allergy medicines have proven ineffective, so these medicines may prove effective. In such type of itching, cooling lotions like those containing camphor or menthol, capsacain or local anesthetic creams, amitriptyline and gabapentin tablets and electrical cutaneous nerve field stimulation prove effective.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
