Jock Itch

Jock Itch

I have had jock itch for many years. I have tried Lotrimin, Lamisil, Tinactin, and seems like all the over the counter topical treatments. The original dark skin color of my testicals has been changed or eaten away by this skin irratation to the point that my testicals are now for the most part white or very fair skined. This skin irritaion will literally wake me from my sleep to scratch to the point of bleeding. Please help, there has to be a solution.

Hi,

Definitive diagnosis of fungal infection such as jock itch is through obtaining skin scrapings from the lesion and evaluating it under the microscope. This is important in determining if funfus is present. If yes, antifungal medication may help eradicate the infection. Otherwise, if it does not respond to this medication, prescription medication may be indicated or ither causes of the infection may be responsible. It is important that you determine the cause for proper treatment. Have this evaluated by a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and management. It is difficult to diagnose with out actual clinical evaluation of the lesion. It is important to keep the area clean and dry.

Take care and keep us posted.
