Just diagnosed melanoma

by boodesigns, Jun 29, 2009 10:23AM
I have just received a diagnosis of melanoma .9mm on Breslow Clark level 3,  this is at the site of a previously removed mole ( by shave biopsy) about 8 years ago.  Unfortunately I do not have the original pathology report but do remember being told that it would probably  regrow and be darker and not to worry about it which it did within the first year.  Now I am confused, I am reading about pseudomelanoma and wonder if this is what is going on.  I can't get into the surgeon for 2 weeks :( .  I appreciate any insight!!!!

You,or your derm should always inform the pathologist that it is a previously removed mole which can show severe dysplasia. However let me confess my knowledge is rather less than the counterparts since in the third world we  come across melanomas less often.

However, despite the relatively high number of diagnostic criteria proposed, melanoma diagnosis remains problematic in a large proportion of cases, with possible diagnostic discord, even among experts.12–14 13.
