Be VERY VERY careful you can even get them in your eyes, if you touch the sore when it's in blister form ,then touch your eye you will get the virus there, you can also get on your genitals the same way.
I got my cold sore infection from my parents when I was very little. I rarely got them because my parents were cautious when they had an outbreak, and I knew how to tell if my friends or family had them and when to not share forks, lip glosses, or drinks. If you already have the virus in your system (and chances are you do), you can break out at any time due to stress, or a low immune system, and yes... you can get one from contracting it from your kissable mate. The herpes virus is nothing to take lightly though, even if it is one of the most common transmitted viruses. You ARE capable of spreading a simple cold sore to the genitals of another, and even your own. You have to be VERY careful when you have a sore, especially if it's "weeping" (aka oozing... yes gross). Now due to personal experience with simple cold sores I can tell you that no one in my family, nor I, have been able to not get a cold sore because we've had one before. I don't believe that there are antibodies that are developed because if there were then that would mean that there is a cure for herpes available, and since there's not a vaccine readily available... then there are no antibodies to use. I have noticed, however, that I can fight mine off a little bit faster, but I chock that up to a healthy lifestyle and eating appropriately for the most part. Do not kiss away your cold sore, keep it all to yourself!
