LIP PROBLEM

Hi Doctor Rockoff,    For a few months or more i noticed  a slightly raised  area of my upper lip  it was cracked a little and now just raised and a little dry . if i stretch the lip its like a third of an inch long just a little redder and raised no leaking or blood.    I went to my derm a well respected doctor who looked at it through his scope and thought it could just be irritation leave it alone might be a little actinic something but doesn't look serious   He  said  he could take a tiny slice of my lip and make sure but he thinks it is over kill  and we should just wait and watch it.   He said leave a few months stop playing with it and keep moisturised with a 30 sunbock... I can send a picture that u can see but can't figure out how.   Just wanted to get a second opinion from you asI respect your advise to others.  Thank you.

If it is caused by irritation, causative irritant should be recognized and removed.

It could be an Actinic keratosis too. In such a case, most dermatologist proceed with treatment as a preventive measure.

If there is a slightest clinical indication that it could be a non-melanoma skin cancer, biopsy is a golden diagnostic standard to provide final answer.
