Lamictal Rash developed after 11 days on meds... What should I be doing?
I suddenly had the Lamictal rash develop on my whole body after 11 days on the medication Lamictal(Lamotrigine). As a side note, I was/am also taking Ambien for a period of 4-5 days prior to this rash, and Ativan, which I've been on for a longer period of about 1 month. The first time I noticed the rash was after a glass of wine in the evening; at that point it was confined to my upper chest and face
the day before but I hadn't thought much about it). When I woke up the next morning, the rash had gotten more intense (redder and more pronounced/filled in) on my upper body, and spread over my lower body and legs. I did go into the ER that afternoon and was put on Benadryl and Prednisone and told to come back in two days if it hadn't gotten better, which, it has not yet. I don't have a fever
and as far as I can tell, have no other symptons besides the rash on my body, but the rash has made it hard to sleep (last night I didn't sleep at all), which is also strange because it seems like the Prednisone and Benadryl should have helped calm the itching
and skin. Any thoughts on the issue of SJS and if I should be worried about it? Or what to watch for if it is or isn't that; how to treat whatever it may be (generally and specifically); and finally, is there a particular point when skin rashes like this become issues that need to be dealt with specifically by burn units or dematologists? For those following the disjointed events listed here, it's been 3 days and 2 nights since I first noticed an issue.
