Large Red bump

Acouple months ago a red spot appeared at the top of my pubic area directly in the middle. It cant be a lymph node because its in the middle and not the sides. However.. recently its been getting bigger and more tender. It seems to be under the skin wit hthe redness on top. It has its moments where it is more tender and swollen then others.. I am debating on going to the doctor because im tired of waiting on it to go away its self.. any suggestions?
Thanks

Hello,

From the symptoms,it sounds like a boil. Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus.

Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

If the symptoms persist then pls get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Possibilities of sebaceous cyst and swollen lymph node have to be probed.

Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
