I have noticed whiteness on the pubis that underneath was reddish in colour and slightly burning. I tried washing it off with mixed success - it was a bit painful.
I went to the health clinic and they gave me Canesten to treat it. I applied it and it went away quite quickly and I stoped using it. I later noticed redness on the foreskin that went away after 2 days. I later treated redness with Canesten as I believed it was something fungal. My urethra is also quite sensitive and slightly swollen (no pain when urinating) - i found that canesten helps treat irritation of urethra and foreskin.
I then noticed redness under my penis (where it touches testicles) - went to see a dermatologist and she said that the skin is broken and prescribed Trimovate cream. I applied as prescribed and the swelling stopped for some time. But it looks like this itch/thrush/infection is still there and I ran out of both creams - Canesten and Trimovate.
My skin is thinning and I am worried that I could do some damage to it by using it too often.
What should I do? I did all tests for STDs that were all negative. Should I take a break from creams or try using different ones?
Hello,
It can be intertrigo. An intertrigo is an inflammation (rash) of the body folds. It most commonly occurs due to bacterial, viral or fungal infection. An intertrigo usually appears red and raw-looking, and may also itch, ooze, and be sore.
Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. For the itching please take some over the counter antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
