Lasting redness on and bumps formation on nose.

by Sanysan, May 15, 2009 10:03PM
Hi Everyone,

My skin is extremely oily especially my nose and Tzone but also very dry..recently, it got flaky everyday. Underneath all this my skin feels very unclear, has little bumps everywhere, little redness due to severe past acne (which also stayed for almost 3 years now.) Half a year ago, I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me microcycline. It worked for the first 2 months but then suddenly turned against me and a whole lot of acne, bumps, and redness appeared everywhere on my face!!

Moving to the problem:
I have this extreme redness on my nose for quiet some time now..maybe for 3-4 years and whenever I'm getting a pimple on my nose, it's staying on it forever, literally forever! My nose looks bigger than before with all those bumps. I didnt think much about the first two but new bumps of 3-4 appeared on my nose suddenly. One after another appeared and I can't stop it. Other acne on my face disappear normally after one or two weeks. Actually, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.. I'm avoiding the sun as much as possible, bought cotton pillow cases, am extremely phobic about touching my face, wash it every morning and evening and on hot days even mid days too with Biore cleanser, toner, moisterizer. Before I used clinique, cetaphil...etc.
What can I do to remove these bumps? It feels like they have become a part of my flesh/skin already but a bumpy nose is NOT pretty at all! is there anything I can do?

2nd Prob:
A strange thick patch appeared under my skin in the nose bridge area about 3 months ago. There's now this huge line between my forhead and upper nosebrigde because of that...

Little history on my skin:
Since I was born, I had skin problems such as severe allergies to fruits, nuts, grases, pollen etc. I had neurodemitis and could only eat special products. Also, I was born with a smaller kidney size. My father had very bad acne and my mom had the most beautiful skin but very bad allergies. I have a sister with moderate allergy problems and beautiful skin, my brother has hardly any pimples, little oily skin and mild allergies of fruits.
Sincerely,

Sany

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be seborrheic dermatitis, eczema or rosacea.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.

If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist

Other two possibilities have to be ruled out.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
