Light spots on face

by mzmona29, Nov 04, 2009 08:57PM
hello, I had put  some hand lotion on my face at work because we didnt have any vaseline. I thought it wouldn't affect me but i think it did. After I put this on my face i cleaned my hands with hand sanitizer and let it dry. then i touched my face. later on that night and the next day my face had an allergic reaction to it that went from red bumps to a light skin discoloration on my forehead, cheek and a little around my mouth. My doctor gave me some hydrocortisone for it but it only cleared the rash and my face is trying to come back to normal but i still got skin discoloration on my face. What can I use for this? AT The same time i caught scabies and was treated but still have the marks from the bites on my skin. how can i get rid of this? thanks

To: mzmona29,
Hello,
The marks on your face can be due to hypopigmentation. Although this type of skin problem is very difficult to treat, but Elidel cream or Protropic ointment can be used on these hypopigmented  areas. But use them after a dermatologist’s guidance. If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA).It has provided excellent results in such hypopigmentation. Regarding hyperpigmentation after scabies, the treatment includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion.
Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
