Lightening appearance from scars

When I was a teenager, I had tons of acne. Unfortunately, I had a really bad habit of picking at them and popping them, and now the scars still remain. I'm pretty sure they are not normal acne scars, since the discoloration on some scars hasn't lightened up much in over a year or two. Is there any cream or treatment that can lighten these scars?

If it matters any, I have brown (Philippino-like) skin color.
