Like So Many. Unexplained Rash Followed by Risky behavior Help!!!

by trigger101, Apr 05, 2005 12:00AM
Hi Doc.

Significant risky behavior just over 3 weeks ago. Unprotected sex (Vaginal and oral) with a women of unknown background (she said she was tested recently and was negative but who knows, she is a drug user but not IV (Extasy and coke), she has had many partners). We had half a dozen “episodes”. Right after I began to get freaked out. Two weeks or so later I had a sore throat and felt a bit tired this lasted about 36 hrs. I had NO fever, no soreness of my glands, no headaches or anything else. As a note 1/3 of my office was sick at this time. Well just as I was mentally starting to feel better last night I get this unexplained rash on my upper chest. It was about 3 inches across by 2 inches high and itchy and made up of small red bumps. i cant remember the last time I had a rash maybe 25 yrs ago as a kid! This morning the area was a little bigger and tonight even bigger and starting up my neck. Nothing is new. No new detergent, soaps, dry cleaning, anything. Currently it’s the only symptom I have and Im at 3 ˝ weeks after “exposure”. As a baseline I took an HIV ELISA test at 3 weeks and got the results today, negative. I plan on getting a PCR test at 28 days (this Sat). So I think you see where this is going. Im not asking for a diagnosis, just your thoughts. WHAT is a typical HIV early symptom rash? Could this be it? Is it likely? Using a condom is so easy why are we so dumb????

Thanks!
I have digital pics but didnt know where or how to post

I doubt this has anything to do with HIV.  HIV rashes ten\d to be associated with fever and feeling generally lousy.  But what's the point of worrying and speculating?  Get yourself examined and tested again, so you won't interpret minor skin irregularities that are unrelated to sex or to each other.

Take care.  And use condoms.

Well you can add upset stomach and fatigue to the list as I dont think Ive ever been so stressed out in my life!!!! Last night I felt well I dont know what I felt like, lik eI was going insane. This morning the rash hasn't changed much maybe an extra "pimple" or two. It seems to be concentrated in a small area again roughly4" across and a couple inches high with some satelite "pimples" are it. Definitely raised and somewhat itchy. Looking forward to your thoughts
