Linear Epidermal Nevus

My daughter was diagnosed with an epidermal nevus several years ago.  It covers roughly 1/4 of her forehead and looks something like a four-fingered hand. We were told it is a birthmark, although it wasn't present at birth or for several years thereafter.  Five or six years ago, she saw the head dermatologist at Indiana University hospital in Indianapolis.  He asked her to be in Grand Rounds, which she was, but was never much help after that.  We moved to Southern Indiana 3 years ago, and she has gotten a few freezing treatments which are helping minimally, and are pretty painful for her.  The dermatologist has recommended another doctor who does laser surgery.  I would like to know if this can be a successful way to remove an epidermal nevus, or what other options she may have.  She is graduating from high school this year and is pursuing a degree in theater.  She is really ready for it to be gone!
