Lip Scar?

About three months ago I got a cold sore on my lip. It took extra long to heal and even left a red mark behind. Recently, the mark has started to fade. When I went to talk to my dermatologist, she told me that it wasn’t a scar, and that it would go away. Ironically, a few days after I went to see her, I had another sore appear on my lip, or so I thought. It turned out to be only a pimple but was in the exact same location and even slightly on the skin above the lip. It is fully healed but the scabs have left a shiny red mark behind. From past experiences red and shiny usually means scar tissue, am I right? For three months I have been covering up the previous red mark with red lipstick but I cannot do this forever. I’m only 18 and it doesn’t look appropriate. My question is; is there anything I can do to lessen the appearance of this mark/scar? And, do you think it will be permanent? Thank you.
