Lip Warts

ASN
Someone please clarify this for me. I went to the dermatologist, and he told me I have warts on my lip. He prescribed me Aldara. When I read up on aldara is it is used for genital wart treatment. I am sexually active but use all precautions I know, and I am also tested routinely for any STD. I have never had a STD in the past, and do not have warts on my genitals. Is it possible that someone with genital warts gave me the warts on my lip? ALso, is can I give someone genital warts by having oral sex with them and kissing?

BTW, I checked and Aldara is used on non-std HPV's as well.  Not sure if your lip warts are related to the STD-HPV or not.  I just don't know.  Sorry.

HPV is a skin to skin disease that consists of about 100 different virus and abt 30 are transmitted via sexual activity (not just intercourse but heavy petting as well).  The type of sexually transmitted hpv that causes warts is cause by low risk hpv viruses.  I am not a dr but I do have high risk hpv so have read alot about hpv.  I would think that the warts on your mouth are not caused by a sexually tranmitted hpv however it can't be ruled out.  What does it matter anyway? Lots of people have oral sex with someone who has hpv (either knowingly or unknowingly) and never get warts on their mouth. Also please note that using a condom is not 100% effective against preventing the spread of HPV but it's still going to help some.
