Little Red Bumps

Little Red Bumps

I just started noticing that I am getting an increasing amount of little red bumps all over my chest around my breast, on my shoulders, and a tiny bit on my back. I'm only fifteen and I'm getting a little worried! I went in a hot tub two nights ago and after that more started appearing. I'm not sure if that has to do with it, or timing was just the same. I just got off my period and thought maybe that had to do with it too. But I'm very impatiant and wondering if you have any idea how I can get rid of the little red bumps, or better what are they from?!

Hi,

One probable differential for the reddish bumps may be folliculitis.Folliculitis is caused by bacteria such as pseudomonas or staphyloccocus. You prior history of using a hot tub is significant since bacteria may easily contaminate hot tubs ( hot tub folliculitis) which are not well maintained and sanitized.

Has the hot tub been cleaned properly ?You may read on hot tub folliculitis and hot tub decontamination procedures.

I suggest you have this immediately assessed by your physician so that proper management be done. You may need topical medications and oral antibiotics if this is indeed  folliculitis. However, other underlying conditions need to be ruled out and your physician will be able to help you with that.

Keep us posted.
