Little white bumps on my lips...

Ok, so as the story goes, I hooked up with this girl at a party last friday..  Dumb move..  Five hours later I was experiencing painful urination.  However, that never came back.  I had a slight discharge for one night (noticed it when I woke up next morning), that went away.  Also, there was the whole frequent urination thing, and kinda itchy and swelling feeling in the genital area, and fatigue (extreme).  I have been tested for Ghonorrhea and Chlamydia, although there were no traces of either those or syphillis in the blood tests and urethral swab that they analyzed.  Then there were these little white bumps on my upper and lower lips.  There is no pain associated with them, there is no itching, no real swelling.  The bumps appear to be underneath the skin on my lip.  They are just about equally distributed across the surface of my lips (mostly on the upper lip).  By that I mean, if you go from the corner of the mouth on one side to the corner on the other, there's tiny white bumps most of the way across.  However, they are mostly on the centerline of my lip.  Most don't really show if you aren't looking for them because they are pressed against the other lip.  Another thing that I have been noticing recently is that my lips, regardless of how much I put chapstick on them, seem to be going through a bit of a cycle.  Every three or so days, the skin on my lips is drying up and flaking off, and there are no open sores or anything, it's just replaced with new skin.  Like I said, just about all of these bumps are underneath the surface of the skin.  There was one today that was above the skin, but it too was very small, not painful, no reddness really, and I went in to have the Doc look at it, he said that what I have does not look like classic Herpes...  He could tell that that is what I was worried about.  This bump on the surface was really small so they scraped it open and took a culture to test, but that won't be done for a while, and in the mean time I'm sitting here pulling out my hair not knowing what the hell is wrong with my lips..  Oh, and other symptoms that I experienced recently were pain in my back (like a dull pain as if I worked out too much), and oh, as I said before, extreme fatigue.  Oh, and sore throat, and on certain parts of the inside of my mouth it feels as though I drank some reall hot coffee or something...  It has that raw feeling like you burnt your mouth (but I didn't).  My tounge looks fine.  My gums on the bottom look a little whiter than usual in places.  I feel like I have stuff in the back of my throat a lot, like I have to cough it up.  Oh, and when I woke up this morning, my eyes were pink as hell with that crusty stuff in the corners.  I put visine in them, and they look fine now, but when I looked in the mirror, I freaked out.. Oh, and there are no sores or anything on my genitals (AT ALL).  I don't know what's happening to me...  Anything you can tell me would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thank you very much!!!!

It's funny because I have the EXACT same conditions, and almost the exact same causes, theses little bumps seem to come back regardless.. what are they exactly? Is this curable, or contagious? One of the small bumps seems to have replicated itself onto the exact same location on my bottom lip?

are there any other possibilities what this could be?

I have been experiencing those exact same symptoms for the past 5 years along with bumps (mucous glands) in my mouth.  I've spoken to my family doctor about this a few times, each time he just tells me that some people produce more saliva than others.  It all started at the same time....the bumps in my mouth, the feeling of constantly having something caught in your throat (which makes you have to clear your throat all the time). It kind of feels almost numb like you have cotton mouth, except that I am producing so much saliva as I'm constantly swallowing trying to rid myself of the "something stuck in my throat feeling". The "pink" eye comes and goes.  It occurs every few weeks which makes it intolerable to wear contact lenses.

Wow!!!  You were up early!!!  Or wait..  I guess there is the possibility that you are on the East Coast...  Either way, thank you for responding so quickly.  I'm still a little nervous, but not as much.

Thanks!!!

No problem.

The bumps on your lip are called Fordyce's condition.  They are small sebaceous (oil) glands, which are visible against the pink background of the lip, especially if you press on them.

You undoubtedly are noticing these because you're fearful of STD.  It's quite likely that many of your other symptoms result from the same thing.  You may also have an upper respiratory infection, which would explain the crusty eyes, the sore throat, and perhaps the pains ans fatigue.  There is no reason I can think to be concerned about herpes, HIV, etc.

Please ask your doctor to evaluate your probable virus, get some rest, drink lots of liquids, and avoid risky sexual encounters.

Take care.
