. In early September I started losing hair by the handful. I went to the doctor and he put me on 50 mcg Levothyroxine for thyroiditis and started me on iron supplements since my iron was low. My scalp hair loss seemed to have slowed down, but in the last few days it has picked up again. But now I'm not only losing scalp hair, but eyebrow, pubic
hair, and eyelashes. It is devastating to me. On top of that, I have increased peach fuzz all along my jawline. It's like the places where hair is supposed to grow it's falling out, and it's growing where it's not supposed to be.
Is it possible the thyroid medication prompted this all to start? My thyroid numbers are OK now and I'm going to go back to the doctor to see if this caused all of this. I'm terrified I have alopecia universalis. Could starting thyroid medication have triggered this? Please, please help.
I, also, have lost hair everywhere and it is taking its toll on me mentally. I used to have a beautiful mane of long brunette so thick I often had to have it thinned out. I have no eyebrows, sparse eyelashes, no underarm or leg hair nor pubic
My mom is a hairdresser. She is specialized in Nioxin, which is a hair and skin program for extreme problems. She has given it to her customers with thyroid problems, and they are hooked. They definitely come back feeling a lot better about themselves.
I started using it because I wanted to make my hair grow faster, and I can tell you that the shampoo and conditioner doesn't do much alone, but with those and vitamins and a few other treatments that they have, a lot will change. I recently started the vitamins and have noticed so much difference. Also, the vitamins will help with your eyebrows and things like that that you don't necessarily use shampoo on! Hope this helps.
